Day 7 done it! .. Nearly!

Day 7 started off as focused as the previous six.

#1 son got himself off to work as I delivered #3 son to his job at 8am. I stayed and helped him for an hour, came home and delivered #2 son to his work (via Macdonalds for a bite of brekkie for him, not me).

Came home and had the house to myself, pottered and made myself a delicious juice of beetroot, kale, broccoli and apple, with an avocado blitzed in it.

Received a text from my lodger (he’s away this weekend) who was struggling a bit. Sent a supportive message back saying stick at it etc.

Picked up #2 son at 2pm and went shopping for a prom suit, with him devouring a juicy sausage from the sausage man first. I wasn’t swayed by the cooked pork product – although they did smell divine!

A successful 2 hrs later we collected #3 son and returned home. I grilled chicken, cooked burgers, prepared salad and was fine. Then I fried the potatoes.

There’s always a little bit of potato that gets stuck to the pan. Surely it wouldn’t hurt to just nibble on that? No sooner had I got it in my mouth than it was followed immediately by 10 deliciously hot sautéed potatoes. The salt, the oil, the burnt bits, the floury middle. Oh. My. God. I was lost.

I regained a grip but knew I had to eat properly or the evening could descend into a food orgy.

I had a healthy salmon and veg soup I’d made and frozen a week earlier. It was delicious.

I felt bad for my lodger, who had been struggling earlier, so sent a confessional text. He replied that exactly the same thing had happened to him and he was eating cod soup with veggies! Weird!

So I didn’t quite make a whole 7 days. I’m not disappointed, I won’t give up, the odd blip is bound to happen and if I get to eat healthy soup once in a while it can’t be that bad!

Onwards!
